Differences Between a Compact Spare and a Full-Size One

Drivers might get a flat tire at any time. Most new vehicles come with either a full-size spare or a smaller one. Large trucks and SUVs, however, come only with full-size spares. Make sure to rotate your full-size spare with your other four tires. An advantage of a "donut" over a regular-sized one is that it takes up less storage space and is lighter.

When using it, exercise caution. Generally, it can only be used for about 50 miles and at speeds of no more than 50 m.p.h. Look at the sidewall of your tire for the manufacturer’s specific limitations. When driving on a donut, your destination must be a repair shop.

Visit our Ford parts facility to have a spare of any size fixed. If it can’t be repaired, we have replacement tires. Travel safely.
